This sub-theme welcomes proposals that are concerned with political landscape transformation, social movements and freedom of expression, conflict and displacement, human security, ethical politics, and peace. These matters are as relevant as ever in the contemporary world, where conflicts are extremely complex, and entangled in issues of various natures, ranging from the socioeconomic to the religious. This sub-theme is particularly interested in proposals that encourage a discussion that goes beyond the disciplinary boundaries of anthropology and sociology, engaging with perspectives like those of human security and peace studies.
